Mike Smaglinski, who hails from Temple, Pennsylvania retired from the railroad after twenty-seven years covered forty-eight states trucking, has rebranded himself at The Cave. He sells taxidermy and vintage accessories of all kinds at his colorful stand.
Check out the brave little dog with the black bear head recently sold for $400. You will find wolf pelts and mounted foxes on display.
Along with smaller vintage antiques, knick-knacks and old signage, on sale right now (see photo with pretty customer, Liz Tonoco), are two gorgeous barber chairs from the ‘fifties.
Both Takara chairs weigh about 400 lbs each, and are real conversation pieces. The mechanics are working fine, but could use reupholstery, The chairs, from an old barber shop in Reading, can comfortably sit a large man, have swivel lean-back and go-down features and come complete with the old razor straps.
Completely redone, these catch-your-eye chairs would sell for about $1800, but Mike is willing to negotiate in the $500 – $600. range.
